Studio Behavior:
BASIC ALERTS FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS

~ When you register, be sure to ask for a description of the proper dance shoes and   dancewear for
your classes. (For a few subjects, students wear no shoes.)

~ Arrive and leave wearing street shoes. Wearing your dance shoes outside can track damaging
substances onto the studio floor and may also damage your special shoes.

~ If you have not yet invested in the proper dance shoes, ask if we have some to lend you, or prepare
to wear socks for your first class and then purchase what you need.

~ Arrive and leave wearing street clothes. Inside you may then change into the proper dancewear for
your class (or simply remove a coverup if you have worn one overtop).

~ If you have not yet invested in the proper dancewear, ask if we have some to lend you. Be aware
that loose-fitting T-shirts, sweatshirts, or pants are not suitable classroom attire, because they don’t
let the teacher see whether you are moving or standing correctly.

~ Costumes are not acceptable attire for everyday dance classes. They often distract the wearer or
his/her classmates and may not allow for all the proper movements.

~ Do not wear jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, or dangling earrings in class. They can distract
you or others during instruction. They can also fall off or apart and create a hazard on the dance
color. Only critical exceptions will be made.

~ Make sure your hairstyle will not disrupt your turns or tumbling moves.

~ No texting, tweeting, or posting is permitted in the classroom. All cell phones must be on vibrate and
put away during class time. No snacks or gum are permitted in class.

~ To prevent dehydration, you may sip water during a brief classroom break. We keep on hand paper
cups and filtered water. Other suitable drinks are sipped only before or after class in the front office.

~ Remember not to eat a heavy snack or meal just before class. Instead of foods that are not quickly
digested, choose fruit or other healthful, easily digested foods.

~ Collect all of your belongings after class. That way, nothing turns up missing when you get ready to
return to the school.

~ Do not leave the building until the person responsible for picking you up has come inside the front
door for you. Parents, alert us if someone else is to pick up your student.

~ Parents, we appreciate your efforts to help us make sure no one waiting in the lobby is accidentally
disrupting a class or damaging school property.
